Cannot connect to Server 2008 EC2 instance after assigning static IP

I'm trying to install ActiveDirectory on a Windows Server 2008 R2 Amazon
EC2 instance. Per the instructions in this video, I assigned the instance
a static IP address, which I now realize is a mistake as the instance is
not longer connectable. The question is, is there any way at all to
salvage this instance (I haven't taken any recent snapshots so I can't
revert to a backup image)? Or am I forced to start again essentially from
scratch? Moreover, what is the correct way to go about installing
ActiveDirectory on an AWS instance?
